I am a writer, teacher, musician, cultural organiser, and PhD researcher in the Music Department at King’s College London. My AHRC-funded doctoral research examines processes of culture change and academic reform in higher music education. Since 2022, I have conducted field and archival work at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC, or Catalonia College of Music), where I work as a visiting researcher and lecturer.
Previously, I completed a BA in Musicology at the University of Oviedo, where I received the SGAE End of Degree Award. I then completed an Erasmus stay at the University of Helsinki (2017-18) and an MMus in Musicology and Ethnomusicology (Distinction) at King's College London, funded by the Mutua Madrileña Foundation Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies (2019-2020).
I have presented my research at international conferences spanning multiple disciplines in the USA, UK, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, and Norway. I have delivered invited talks at King’s College London and University of Oxford, and my research has appeared in the International Journal of Community Music and Ethnomusicology Forum.
I am deeply committed to self-reflexive and inclusive forms of teaching. I have taught courses on ethnomusicology, anthropology, and social theory at KCL, UCL and ESMUC (Catalonia College of Music) and I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My teaching, research, and outreach work questions the boundaries between theory and practice, academic work and activism, and institutions and society. Beyond academia, I have over seven years of experience as an arts manager and cultural organiser. I currently serve as the project manager/lead for the King's Music Academy—King's College London's outreach initiative—and as a trustee for the national music charity Water City Music.
